HOW IT ALL BEGAN

we were never meant
to carry it all alone.
For many years, Ryan and I have had a deep passion for supporting veterans, first responders, caregivers, and people carrying burdens that most never truly see. We spent years volunteering, serving in our community, supporting organizations, and simply trying to show up for people who were struggling.

Helping people was never just something we wanted to do.
It became part of who we were.
As our children grew up and eventually moved out, we found ourselves stepping into a different season of life. While many talk about becoming empty nesters, we found ourselves leaning deeper into purpose instead.

A MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Ryan's father became seriously ill while living out of state. We traveled to bring him home so we could care for him.
A SHOCKING DISCOVERY
For years, we believed he was receiving VA benefits. We discovered he had never secured them.
A COMMON REALITY
He rarely spoke about being a veteran because he didn't feel like he deserved anything. We found this mindset is incredibly common-especially among older veterans.
LIVING THE REALITIES
We began navigating the VA system, caregiving, and long- term support. What started as a passion became our everyday reality.
OUR HOME BECAME
THE MISSION
Another veteran in need of a safer environment came to live with us. Our home-and our lives-changed forever.

For most of my adult life, I've studied trauma, burnout, nervous system regulation, emotional patterns, identity struggles, and human behavior. But I was afraid to fully step into it. Caregiving, full-time work, and the emotional weight of everything gave me the push I needed to stop waiting-and start building something that could truly make a difference. That became Silent Warrior Mission.
Over the next two years, I poured myself into building the foundation of what would become Silent Warrior Mission. Countless hours researching, writing, developing the workbooks, and studying deeper into the things I've spent my life learning-so I could create something real, honest, practical, and built for real life.
As time went on, it became clear our current home wasn't built for aging in place or long-term accessibility. The Silent Warrior Housing Initiative is about building an ADA-conscious home that allows us to continue caregiving with dignity, stability, accessibility, and hope.
